Review!! Denzel Curry - King of The Mischievous South Volume 2

Denzel Curry - King of The Mischievous South Volume 2

Yo, what's good, y'all? It's your boy Dondi White, the flyest critic reppin' the seven musical seas. Today, we takin' a trip down south with Denzel Curry's "King of The Mischievous South, Volume 2."

This joint's got mad buzz, like the latest Y2K fiasco from Ice Spice. Folks sayin' it might be top three out the South, which is a big claim. We talkin' OutKast, Scarface, Ludacris, and JID level—gonna be tough to top that. But they say this one's the illest they've heard in a minute.

Your boy Dondi knows Curry's big in the mainstream, but we're givin' him a fair shot. Let's dive in and see if this is the next "ATLiens" or just another "Rebirth."

1. KOTMS II INTRO ft. Kingpin Skinny Pimp

Aight, never heard of KSP before. Oh snap, this intro's tough! Feels like I'm back in the day, young and wild.

2. ULTRA SHXT ft. Key Nyata

Yo, this is startin' off right. The transition from the intro is straight fire. We got some vocalizer on the rap, but it's smooth. Almost got that OutKast vibe. I'm feelin' it!

This is flames! I might've misjudged this album. If Curry keeps this up, he's gonna smash it. This track's straight heat. Got me picturin' cruisin' with this blastin'.

3. SET IT ft. Maxo Kream

Starts off mellow, missed a bass drop though. But yo, Curry's flow is sick. Switchin' it up, keepin' it fresh. Drums kick in, and Maxo Kream jumps in. He's alright, got that 21 Savage vibe. Crazy good song overall.

HOT ONE ft. TiaCorine & A$AP Ferg

This one kicks off nice. "So much drive that I've gotta get a chauffeur." Sick line! A bit too much shoutin' from the features, though. TiaCorine is solid, kinda got that Yoyo vibe. Then A$AP Ferg comes in and ruins it with that Dr. Seuss flow talking like he be chewing up some marbles or something. Nah, who let Ferg on this? Kick him out and Fergie Boy. Geesh.

Beats - 8/10
Lyrics - 7/10 (until Ferg messes it up)

BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE ft. That Mexican OT

Hope this one's good off the dome. Nice intro, flow's a bit annoyin' at first but smooths out. Decent track, not the best but not terrible. That Mexican OT's voice kinda grates, but it's alright.

HEADCRACK INTERLUDE ft. Kingpin Skinny Pimp

Just a skit, Denzel flexin' to his boys. Not countin' this one.

G'Z UP ft. 2 Chainz & Mike Dimes

2 Chainz on the track, let's hope he doesn't wreck it. Beat starts off nice, some cool changes. Curry's verse is killer. Just end it there.

Oh no, 2 Chainz is droppin' nonsense again, barely stayin' on topic. Son must've just phoned in this wack ish. That last feature? Pure garbage, man. Who gave Denzel these features?

Beats - 9/10
Lyrics - 5/10 (Denzel held it down, but the others...)

LUNATIC INTERLUDE

Another skit, but those DJ scratches are fire! Wish this was a full track.

SKED ft. Kenny Mason & Project Pat

Kenny Mason's a good sign, this beat's flames. Curry's spittin' fire. Kenny Mason's killin' it too. This is the vibe!

Project Pat comin' through solid. This track is a banger, the album's back on track, yessir!

Beats - 9/10

CHOOSE WISELY INTERLUDE ft. Kingpin Skinny Pimp

Just a skit again, chill background beat.

COLE PIMP ft. Ty Dolla $ign & Juicy J

Feels like a pop love song for the ladies. Even the greats like Big Pun had these. Juicy J stumbles all over, basic rhymes, flow's awkward. But Curry saves it, goin' hard. That Alexa sample was on point. Curry really showed up on this one.

Beats - 6/10
Lyrics - 8/10

WISHLIST ft. Armani White

Intro's hard, dope track. Classic "girls ain't all that" theme but done well. Still prefer that "No Endz No Skinz" track off of Big L's tape, but this is still dope. Armani White delivers too. Fire track.

Beats - 8/10
Lyrics - 9/10

HIT THE FLOOR ft. Ski Mask the Slump God

Never been a fan of Ski Mask, too much sex talk, and not in a good way. Dude just raps fast with no sense, like Em on "The Death of Slim Shady."

This hook is trash, man. That screaming is dumb. Denzel's not bringin' it here, feels like Ski Mask's loser energy dragged him down. Major letdown.

Beats - 8/10
Lyrics - 4/10
12/20

HOODLUMZ ft. A$AP Rocky & PlayThatBoiZay

Dope beat, got a G-funk feel. PlayThatBoiZay? Nah, he needs to go back to SoundCloud. Denzel rescues the track with a killer verse. A$AP Rocky's alright, decent flow.

Beats - 8/10
Lyrics - 7/10 (could've been better without PlayThatBoiZay)
15/20

KOTMS II OUTRO ft. Kingpin Skinny Pimp

Outro skit, ties it all up.

Best track - Set It
Favorite track - Sked
Worst track - Hit the Floor

Overall, this joint's solid and exceeded my expectations. Denzel Curry's a beast with the lyrics and flow. I get why there's hype, but the features dragged this down. Too many clowns, pop singers, and SoundCloud amateurs messin' with the vibe. Denzel on his own? Fire. Need a solo project with just him, maybe a couple of dope features.

It's like you got a gourmet meal: lobster (Denzel), some well-seasoned veggies (hook guy), and then here come's this hash brown from McDonald's (wack feature). Messes up the whole dish. Like, Ski Mask? Nah, man, son brought the whole thing down.

But yeah, this album's dope. Denzel's verses are flames, and dude can take over with the right moves. Go cop this album, it's not top three South just yet, but you won't regret it.

150/200
75% - Not bad at all.
